Sold in 2004, Red Mountain Resort now continues to expand with the goal of 1,400 on mountain properties and up to 70,000 sq ft of commercial space. This expansion is planned to take place over the next 10 – 15 years and will ensure the resort can provide travellers with the entertainment and amenities required of a world class ski resort.
Some of the current expansion projects and things you can look forward to seeing while at Red Mountain Resort include:
Terrain Park: For this season there are plenty of new jumps to practice your skills on, a permanent boarder-cross course and a phenomenal park-wide sound system to give your riding a soundtrack. The safety of everyone in the park is #1 so Red uses a natural progression system allowing riders of every skill level to utilize terrain suited to them and the chance to work their way up to jumps and rails meant for experts only.
Magic Carpet: This year it will be extended and moved behind The Mountain Project Headquarters. This will give beginner skiers and snowboarders a more gradual slope to learn on as well as better access from the Snowsports School. Easy access to the T-Bar from the top of the Magic Carpet makes switching to slightly more advanced runs a piece of cake.
New Chairlift: A new high speed quad chairlift replaced the Silver Lode Chair in 2007 giving riders access to over 100 acres of new beginner and intermediate terrain. Even if you have spent time at Red Mountain before, this is a great reason to return and see what is new. |
